I've been cycling my tank for a bit under 2 weeks now (I've used the filter media from one of my existing tanks to jump start the whole thing), and I've been noticing something weird happening. I'm not sure if it's ready or not so I figured I'd just ask for some help. Below is a chart I've been keeping for some reference.
When the nitrites dropped to 0.5 PPM on 2/19/06, I noticed that the test kit would show, 0.5 and within the next couple of minutes the colour would change drastically to one that's not even on the kit. Well today I've did the test, and it did that again, but now it was a lot closer to reading 0 PPM. Now, my problem is this... I've tested for Nitrates and it's only reading a 5 PPM. Is this normal?
