cycling multiple tanks

I am setting up 5, 10 gallon breeding tanks. And was wondering the best way to cycle them. And some suggestions on what kind of plants i should put in. I am going to try to breed convicts, guppies, mollies just to start and hopefully work my way up. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a older tank I would take the gravel from it and add it to each tank, also take some water out of your older tank, and put some in each tank then top of the older tank ( 55). When you say plants, do you mean live or fake ? I would guess live but just making sure.

Is there really any specific kind of live plants i should put in or would it not matter?
