I have a 10g freshwater with 2 guppies in it. Ive had it for almost 2 months. The problem is the cycling process has gotten a little messed up. I have been testing it for a while now and the Ammonia is at 0 for a couple weeks. Nitrite and Nitrate were both very high for almost 3 weeks. And I introduced 2 Java Fern and 2 Watersprites and now the Nitrate is down to 0. The problem is the Nitrite is still high.
Do u have any suggestions?

Not much of a bioload actually. Using a liquid test kit?

Do you have nitrites in your tap water?

I am using a liquid test kit, but i dont know if there are nitrites in the tap water.
How can i find out?

test the tap water for nitrItes. Just like you would for the tank, only with tap water.

It sounds like you have the ammonia processing bacteria and don't yet have the nitrite processing bacteria working. If your nitrites are much above the minimum detectable amount, you need to do a large water change to get the nitrites down.

Can you do water changes during a cycle?
