Cyclopes - One Eyed Kitten...

It's fake....kittens are born with thier eyes CLOSED.....they don't open for at least a week or two later........

They're closed at birth because they aren't finished developing.....that eye shown in the pic is a well developed eye...........it's fake

I have heard in some "fancy" breeds there is alot of problems with inbreeding. If not inbreeding, it's at least overbreeding for desirable traits.

What a horrible thing to happen. I hope they just bury the thing and let this sad story end here. Things like this really don't require publicity... You don't see Yahoo posting pictures of human babies with birth defects, why not show some respect to nature too..

Synophthalmia (or Cyclopia) is a birth defect in which a normally two-eyed animal is born with only a single fused eye, generally disproportionately large and centered on the face above the area where the nose would usually appear. Typically in cyclopic births the nose is either absent or present as an appendage located above the single eye.

Eyelids are also generally absent in such births, which explains why the eye of the kitten is open even though cats are usually born with their eyes shut and remain in that condition for the first week or two of their lives.

What? Respect? Are you crazy? There is a story here, man! The people have a right to know!!!

Yeah, and here it is:
"Oregon Woman Seeks 15 Minutes of Fame"
AFFILIATED OREGON TABLOID TRIBUNE
A local Oregon woman was thrilled when her cat gave birth to a cyclopian mutant kitten.
"They say every dog has it's day, I guess cats do too!" The ecstatic owner crowed. "I'm hoping to get an appearance on Oprah."
She has also promised NOT to sell the kitten on EBay.
"GoldenPalace.com always buys these things anyways" she hinted, "I'm just going straight to them and hoping they pay me enough for a Carribbean vacation. I mean, for taking all of those pictures and trying to nurse the little bugger through instead of taking it right to the vet where they would take all the credit I should get something right?"

RIP cat. May your next life give you a better chance.

you may have a point about it being a little odd to publisize this, but its just a kitten... a domesticated kitten... and ive seen shows about child deformities before on tv, about how they live in the world as they grow up! also it may benefit us to know how these mutations happen, if not, humans have always been attracted to whatever is unusual. in short, curiosity may kill a cat, but in people, curiosity can help us succeed!

o yea, making fun of the woman who took care of the cat is not funny, she, unlike the cat, can read the newspaper and surf the web to see about what people are saying about her
