is it a absolute need for a molly to be in brackish water?i usedto have mollys years ago & they were in fresh water, now i have a baby molly in fresh water with my betta.the mollies lived for about 2 years,is that a normal lifespan?I would hate to think that i was hurting them.

Mollies do prefer to have brackish water but they can live in freshwater. I do not believe that it hurts them to be living in a freshwater tank.

what perameters would i need for water in my D. molly tank, then, to make it brackish?
you need to add some marine salt mix (but not enough to make it SW, 30-35 ppt). get a hydrometer to test salinity. there are light brackish and more salty brackish, too. mollies should do fine anywhere from 0-35 ppt, with proper acclimation, of course.
