Hey all. I have a 55 gallon with 6 zebra danios, 6 corys, 5 otos and some ghostshrimp (bought 6 shrimp 2 days ago and can only find 3..........the others are either hiding or were snacks........that's a shame since they're so cool). I plan on putting more fish in at the end of the week since my tank is fully cycled (fishy cycle) and can do with a few more. Yes, I know that adding more fish will cause a mini cycle.....I'm aware. I plan on adding a few at intervals as determined by how quickly the "mini-cycles" end.
Anyway, my question is about one of the danios (zebra). Of the six I have, one is female. She's packed on a few pounds since I got her a little over a week ago. I'm just wondering, should I attempt to breed her? Will she burst, spewing eggs all over my tank, if she doesn't breed? I have no idea how to do this so any recommendations would be great. She doesn't seem to get along well with the males in the tank. They spend a lot of time posturing at each other and chasing each other around. She seems to have a go at them every now and then as well. No one is getting hurt. I'm just wondering if it would even be possible to breed her given her current disposition to them.
Thanks for the help!
