Just curious, if it is possible to keep some zebra danios with a breeding colony of guppies? would the danios nip at the guppies? and would they demolish all the guppy fry?????
I would think that as long as the Zebras are kept in a large enough school they wont be too aggressive toward the Guppies! Their aggression stems from not being in a proper sized school. Any chances of fry surviving will greatly diminish with Danios!
I recommend having a huge school of danios, that way if aggresion breaks out, there will be Danios to flame on. If you're serious about breeding guppies, I'd recommend getting a smaller tank to put the females in. If you just want to have a few fry survive here and there, I'd recommend just having tons of fake or live plants.
Ok thank you guys! I was just wondering to be honest, I don't plan to get any danios soon lol. @NYCguppydude, getting in 6 pr. of snakeskins hopefully by next week!!!!!!
I have some zebra danios and they are really annoying actually. They were in a good school when I got them and a few got bullied to death, one got his tail eaten off, and one even hopped out of my tank during a feeding while the hood was up. Now I am just trying to find someone to take them. I would say any fish that is not bigger than these little guys would get bullied, frightened, or eating.
I have male guppies and lyretail zebra danios in a 55 gall together and they do just fine. I have no idea where people are getting that they are savage. They school with the guppies, I have no bullying problems and they don't nip the fins of the guppies at all. I don't find them annoying at all, mine are docile and calm. I have never heard them disparaged before. IDK, I think they are great.
I agree with guppygirl. I have never had any problems with my danios. I have 6 zebra danios with 4 guppies and they seem to get along great! But whatever you choose good luck!
