I just got my datnoids in and they're not doing so well. They were shipped and they came pretty banged up. Two had bag leaks that left shallow water in the bafs and may have lower oxygen in the water during transit. Now the fish have frayed fins and some bang marks. I was wondering if this was due to their transport. They were placed in 1 L soda bottles with holes to prevent any of their dorsal spines damaging the inner and outer bag. I was curious if this damage could be from these bottles. They were kept in freshwater before shipping and have been doing fine the seller assured me. These are thin bar Indonesian datnoids. I added 1 cup of marine salt to my 30 gal quarantine tank and this helped them recover. They arrived and two of the three were breathing very heavily and not moving on the bottom. One has recoverd to where it will swim normally and only has frayed fins and a patch has flesh beneath exposed. The third has a reddish tail, very frayed and has equilibrium problems. I'll attach some pictures of them. I added some jungle salt to try and releive the stress of this bad journey courtesy of Fed Ex. I'm really worried. They're supposoedly hardy, so I was hoping that they will recover. I added both marine and jungle salt to try and releive some stress, but I need some more suggestions. What do you think. Could some of the damage be due to stress, or something else. Just need some info on helping these fish recover and get back to normal. They're very stressed, but better than last ngiht when they first got in. I just don't want them subcomming to secondary fungal adn bacterial infections. They are between 6 and 7 inches.
Thanks

yeah I figured, I don't have an account yet, but I guess I should start soon enough. Thanks. The wounds seem to be mostly due to shipping and they should recover. I'll just ask and get the med supplies tomorrow.

not to worry they are quite hardy :)
they'll heal quickly :)
just add some salt to their tank and have clean water :)

I would complain to the place you bought them from if any of them don't make it. You would think that they can at least seal the bag right. They should have been doublle or triple bagged.

But if these fish have teeth, the they might have made a hole. Piranha often bite through plastic bags and make a whole in them.
