Yes, those are hyacinths. They can overwhelm the water and reduce oxygen levels, but 6 in a pond won't cause a problem--I've had more than that in tubs.

Food might have been a problem--could have had a bacterial growth, or started to decay, and the smaller fish didn't eat enough? That's a very protein heavy diet--I'd add some veg. I know the fish will eat it, but barbs and silver dollars at least should be primary herbivores.

TKS OrionGirl It was neet watching the cats just move the food like a big vacuum. The bass and the rest would hit the meat on the way down. Then the tinfoils and the rest would head for the duckweed, sorta like going for the salad bar. Have noticed that the duckweed has grown a lot since the fish died. The minnows I fed on the steps with meat and catfish pellets. Never did see any left over on the bottom. Think will vacuum the feeding area just incase there is something that's not supposed to be there. Still don`t understand why the 3 plecos haven't died. Well at least I haven't seen them floating. Hope I don't. Mel

Hey all a small update. Have gazzillians of minnows buzzing around prolly a bunch are guppies too. My neighbor and I were hanging over the side of the pond talking bout the pond when the water exploded. Didn`t see who it was but it must have been big. Have since installed six filters.

WOW SUPER NEWS FLASH. The three plecos are alive and well. I just saw them swimming on the bottom. They look as big as whales.

Gotta figger out a way to get pics of the fish in the pond. Also the 6 big blue trash can filters sure cleaned the floating algae out.
