I really don't see a dechlorinator being the source of your problems, but if you're doing fine without then so be it. I don't htink this is a black and white issue. It's never occured to me not to use it, but if the idea bothers you and you're doing fine without it, continue as you are! My only caution is that conditioners do a lot more than remove chlorine and chloramine. The good ones nuetralize amonia, nitrites and nitrates, making them less toxic to the fish, they remove many heavy metals, and improve the slime coat on the fish.
