Does anyone know of any resources regarding how to maintain / plant / prune freshwater plants in tall aquariums where reaching in is something of a chore? And what is the maximum height of an aquarium which most people can handle reaching into comfortably to maintain plants? Thanks much!

I am 6'3'' and gave away the only tank I had >24" depth. Even at the 24" depth, I want access to both front and back (to work from either side) on the tanks more than 18" front to back.

All IME & IMHO, YMMV.

22 Inches Deep

My 80 gallon is 22 inches deep and would not want to go deeper due to the plants. Sure, a deeper aquarium might look better, but what a pain maintaining .........

I have a 45g tall that is about 25" tall. When its is on the stand, and with the extra 4 inches that the canopy adds I can barley reach the gravel with the tips of my fingers standing flat footed at 5'11" tall. I simply bought a small folding step stool that can fit in the closet. From the first step I can easily reach the bottom and half the aquarium with out moving it, and from the top step I can reach the whole bottom area. It's not just the tank size but also the height of your stand and canopy/hood that will affect your reach. The step stool solved the problem for me. Good luck.
