I feel things aught to be tried in a court of law...not by voting or petition.
 
I do too but there is a petition out for a reason and if anyone would be willing to sign every signature would be appreciated. Thank you.
 
So the reason would be to have public sympathy judge sentencing vice a jury that heard all the evidence....
 
I signed the petition. The petition is not to convict the accused, I would not presume to take the place of the justic system - and the justice system woudln't care if I did.

The purpose is to impress upon the prosecuting attorney that we are outraged at the violence of this crime and she should do all she can to push for a maximum sentence. The prosecuting attorney has a lot of leeway, to plea bargain the case or ammend or reduce the charges. It is our obligation to impress upon her our desire for the full court press. No pun intended.

In the event there is a trial and an offender is convicted, the petition will serve as a sign to the sentencing judge that whomever is found giulty of this crime scares the freekin pants off me and a lot of other people. Obviously capable of extreme violence, it is the courts obligation- its FUCNTION- to protect the public from this type of offender, and we are watching to make sure they do their job.
 
Public opinion..as one sided as it often is..shouldn't affect a Judge's responsibility to the law. Plain and simple.

Thank you for signing turbo. You share the same views I do. What this man did is disgusting and I hope at the very least any other person out there who has it in their head to do something this cruel will think twice!

Do you honestly think that someone who would do something like that THINKS about the repercussions of their actions? Or thinks at all for that matter?
 
Every person is different, so it would be impossible for me to say whether they would or would not think twice before doing such a thing. I said at the very least I would HOPE they would think twice.
