I went to a LFS yesterday to try and find something to fix my divider problem and I browsed around to see wich fishes they had and accessories etc.. Man oh man do they have a great selection compared to the other LFSs I went to, I was there for 30 minutes and I didn't even have time to look at everything. All around it is a nice LFS shop but being the betta lover that I am I went to check out the betta selection. They had tons of them and some really nice ones but what stood out was that they kept some of them in really tinny foam glasses wich freaked me out, is that a common practice? It's the first LFS I see that does that, man they don't even have space to swim around or even move.

Anyways it was really depressing to see of all these superb fishes in foam glasses like that, I felt like buying them all and bringing them home :(

never seen that before but yes i understand your thoughts...all the dead ones they leave out at Walmart and other pet stores like that are sickening...usually LFS arent as cruel but still keeping them in those small containers is wrong. Dividing up a large tank into many sections would be superb. I love bettas too....you know what you should do. Buy a very large tank and divide them into sections and buy all the bettas you want! Sounds like a great idea. I had 2 male bettas in a 5 gallon tank split down the middle. They did great...but im not sure if many bettas can be kept in separate quadrants in one tank. sounds like it would work though. Keep up the good work, taking care of todays Betta cruelty!

I have a divided 10 gallon with 2 male bettas in it but I'm thinking of buying 2 small tanks (5 gallons) and get 2 other bettas. One in the kitchen and one in another room.

I just know I'm gonna end up with small tanks in every rooms with bettas in them :D

One of my LFS does the same, They have about 15 bettas in tiny little boxes (a bit like those screw racks) on a wall by the counter. I think its a real shame that bettas are still kept like this. If you went to a petshop to buy a dog and it was in a plastic box with no room to move the RSPCA/animal rights groupls would go nuts. But it seems fish for some reason dont deserve the same privalage and are allowed to be kept by fishsops and owners in some dreadfull conditions :(
