Desktop Aquarium

pssst. It doesn't show that on the app. :P

Bah. Not my problem. Unless I'm using my phone. Which I'm not, currently. :Angel:And yes, I saw the mobile sig, and felt I should tease you about it. :evil_lol:

Which does beg the question: Why doesn't that information appear on the app? It seems that several resurrected threads I've seen were because people found them via the app and couldn't tell they were responding to a thread from 4 years ago or something.

I might still DIY the light, but with this being such a tiny lil' tank I think it will be fine with just a nice desk lamp.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do for my lighting, I have a couple of LED bulbs that will screw into a regular fixture, if I could find something I liked the look of; I also have a couple of halide fixtures that would likely be overkill.

Ultimately I expect I'll be doing some sort of DIY LED fixture, maybe retrofitted into something, but I'm really not sure at the moment.

Yeah I think I could view the profile and scroll down to see location.. It just seems like a hassle.

:)

I'll be honest, I'm really excited to get that tank wet.. I just want that silicone to cure!

Not what I meant. Since I'm not using the phone app, I see your post, I see your avatar, and I see you're sporting a Rhode Island area code (it's sad how many area codes I know off the top of my head, that weren't created in the past 15 years), 342 posts, joined in mar08. If I were using the app, the stuff about you isn't available along side your post, and yes, it's extra (and unnecessary hassle) steps to see the profile. That's why I had that question about some info not displaying when you view the site via app.

I know what you meant, I was just adding that it is totally possible to find out what a users location is listed as and it's not convenient.

Impressive area code skills!

Ah. Same page now. :duh:I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I bet I'm the rustiest!

Impressive? Meh. It was quite useful when I was working for an airline. Now? I wish I didn't automatically convert 562 to Long Beach, or 973 to Newark.

Planting method - You were looking into high tech, walstad method etc. Did you decide the direction you want to take? Do you know what kind of shrimp you want to keep yet? or which plants you'd like to keep?

A daylight lamp might be the easiest and I think it gives a nice effect. I also like hanging fixtures from the ceiling but assume that wouldn't work in your situation. :) But perhaps you could attach metal conduit pipes to the back on the filling cabinet (or even make flat feet that could slide under it OR the tank depending how heavy it is) and hang the lights (DIY or other) from that. If my explanation sucks look up "diy aquarium light hangers". HERE is a thread with tons of data about lighting.

Ah, right. You know, I think I want to go all out on this one and go high tech. We'll see... I don't even know that it's water tight.

Do you know what kind of water you have at work? Hard/soft, acid/alkaline?

I was actually going to bring my test kit today... We have two water faucets. One is straight tap the other is filtered in some way. I know that that filtered water setup was a big thing (when the system is down, the company buys bottles for everyone.)

I want to test both today.
