yeasturday I bought a healthy looking diamond goby. I then did the drip acclimation proccess until the ewater doubled. I then gently netted the fish and let it into the aqwuarium. it immeadiatly darted into a hole. I was not concerned because I know that most fish would do this. today i checked the tank, and I was not able to find it. I then fed the tank, but there was no sign pof the goby. so tgis is the question. do you guys have any idea where it went? I checked the carpet around the tank, but it apparently did not go carpet surfing. I checiked the filter, but it wasnt there either. the reason that I am checking if it jumped is because last night i heard the goby jump and hit the hood of my tank. I turned on the light, and I saw my goby on the sand bed. is it possible that he is hiding in the sand? is it normal for these guys top hide for a couple of days? plz help.

Mine hid in the sand for a few days until he realized he was safe and I meant food..... neat little guy. I'll be replacing him in death at some point.

I think that he is buried in the sand some where. The water is slot cloudier than from the morning. I think that he is stirring up the sand in the back. Do you think that he will ever come out into the open?

I have had mysterious fish dissapearances in the past. Must be some sort of gremlin.

My goby disappeared for a few days until he got his "bomb" shelter built (dug out).. He then appeared and started sifting sand at his leasure.

this morning, I heard the goby jump again. is this going to happen on a regular basis or asomething? or is he just doing this because he isnt used to the tank? I am asking this because I am afraid that he will get injured from hitting the tank's hood all of the time. also, how long do you think it will take gfor him to appear?

All I have in the tank is one cleaner shrimp and a firefish. Im not sure if the firefish is stressing it because I don't see the goby at all. Also I checked the water parameters and it is all fine ammonia 0 nitrite 0 and barely any nitrate. The ph is 8.4 and the specific gravity is 1.023
