Hi All

I was in my local fish store today and saw what was labelled diamond sharks, there were about 20 in a small tank and each shark was about 2 inches long. They seemed very skittish almost the same way bala sharks are but they looked slightly different. Has anyone got any information on these sharks or a web page I can get a profiles on these fish from as I can't seem to find any information on them.

The link is pointing to the regular Bala Shark itself :(
Keep scrolling down and it showes a lot of different freashwater sharks, but they do not show any pictures or really say anything specific about the diamond shark :(

Thanks for your help guys, certainly they were beautiful fish and I'd have loved to have owned one butI had no idea on size or compatability so I decided not to get one, which is a shame really now I think about it because as I said originally the lfs had about 20 in a tank no bigger than a shoe box, and they were all darting around look terrified. At least in my tank they'd have had more space and probably better care too. Its just a shame we can't buy every fish we think deserves a good home.

Most of the time you can find a yellow-finned bard sold as a “Diamond Sharks”, but this is not always the case. So which one does you Diamond Sharks looks like?

If your pick number (3), then you have a yellow-finned barb. Have a look at the link below.

It looks just like the minnow shark as pointed out in Jericho's post. According to that site they grow to 10 inches. But on the subject of sharks is it possible to buy a true shark for an aquarium. For instance rainbow sharks, redtail sharks and as far as I know bala sharks which are all fairly common aren't exactly true sharks its more they have the same body shape which gives them their name. Is there a shark which is actually a real shark which can go in an aquarium ???.

I could be wrong, but I think the only true sharks are saltwater. Liveaquaria usually has cat sharks, but they need a fairly large tank.
