What is the difference coloration/bodyform wise? Anyway to tell? I think I might have gotten dooped into buying a green brittle I thought was a green serpent?

Serpents are smooth, brittle stars are not, they have little bristles all over. Serpents typically will not go after fish, brittle stars can be predators if not fed well.

As long as they are well fed, they are typically well behaved. Watch for tenting behavior--they lift their central disk up off the ground, creating a little cave between their legs. When a fish darts in to hide, the drop down and have a snack. I've never seen it with any well fed stars, but green serpents and brittle stars in general are more prone to the behavior.
