What are the differences in Gulf View's Deco rock and Coralline rock? I read what the website says, but I'd like input from any of you that have seen or bought both kinds. I will be order live rock from them for a fish only 55 gallon soon, and was wondering if the coralline rock is "almost" as nice as the deco.

Thanks for your replies.

Did you have a long curing time? I was planning to order from there as well.

To be honest, only one box in three had a heat pack in it. Dale apologized and said he must have missed them. I live in Buffalo and the weather was pretty cold but I had the rock in my tank six hours from leaving Gulf View.

I had some die off and a pretty good ammo spike but everything is getting in order now. I plan to add another 200 pounds soon (wish I knew how small 90 pounds looks in a 125 two weeks ago). The good news is my wife said "you realize yor NEED at least 300 pounds of rock!" How cool is that?

the deco rock comes with all kinds of sponges, tube corals, and those type of things.

Many fish that you would keep in a FO tank would eat that stuff. But most of it is likely not photosynthetic, so it likely could survive in a FO tank with minimal lighting.

Algae growing on the rock is photosynthetic, but doesnt require an extradorinary amount of light to survive.

The fish I plan on keeping are reef safe. So the coralline has some growth on it? Just not as much as the deco?

My coralline had a good bit of life on it - sponges, polyps, macroalgaes, crabs, snails, etc. Never bought any deco rock, but it looks to be a step better. As SpongeBob noticed, Caribbean rock is a bit more dense, so it doesn't take up as much space as an equivalent amount of Pacific rock. Plan accordingly if you have a lot of aquascaping in mind!
