So I'm thinking about getting a new digital camera, dont want to spend more the $300 and I want something that takes good macro pics. I'm partial to Nikon but not so much with the price tag. Any ideas?

I would love to but until i find at least one roommate my mortgage is killing any big purchases. should i just wait and stick with my coolpix s51 an ex got me? (terrible for closeups)
DSLRs are great, if you can afford all the stuff to take great pictures.
You need the right lens for the job, and sometimes additional flashes, and studio lighting to get the perfect shot. I am looking for a Lens for My Canon 450D, the one I want is about $500
Canon and Nikon make some pretty nice point and shoot cameras. The Nikon coolpix S70 takes some awesome pictures. its 12.1 Mp and has a macro setting, but its about $300
Most Point and shoot cameras have a macro setting. And megapixels arent really that important for everyday use. More megapixels is useful if you are making large prints, or enlarging a digital image.
Canon also makes some very nice point and shoot cameras.. If I were to buy a PAS, I would either get a canon, or a nikon. but thats just my opinion.

That'd be great, there is a Nikon D3000 I've been looking at there, but if thats too high end let me know
