Discus and Rainbowfish

I've seen some pics on forums by a guy named Hristo who has some amazing tanks packed full of rainbows and discus, and the fish look quite healthy. You really should see the pics in this thread: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/photo-album/29740-some-shots-my-rainbows.html
I'm not sure what temperatures he keeps the tanks at, rainbows like the temp below 80 degrees and most people keep discus at temps above 80, but if nolapete says you can keep discus at more normal temps, then a temperature of say, 78 F might be just fine.

I see rainbows with discus on several sights. Looks awesome in huge planted tanks.

Most viewpoints on discuss vary to the extremes, usually 180 degrees out from one another. One thing that seems common, there is a definite difference between juveniles and full adults, and maybe a sub catagory on mated pairs spawning and rearing.

I would not keep my Discus in 78 degree water,,,,but thats me
