they do appear stressed..(lack of color, barring, fins not in display)

A non-stressed discus should have its fins erect at all times, and shouldnt display any of its stress bars (or peppering for PB based fish). As long as they are still active about the tank and eating well, then more water changes and some salt should help them feel better (and do even better).
