Howdy Folks!

I'm in the process of setting up a 55 Gal Amazon Biotope and was wondering what the correct number of Discus would be for the tank size.

The tank will be a community tank with schooling Tetras as well as bottom feeders/cleanup crew.

I'm trying to keep this as authentic as possible including plants.

How many would be too many with schooling tetras(say 20 neons or ???) and a Plex or 2

I'm thinking 4 discus with the others would be good centerpiece fish assortment, or should I go with 6? Note: I'm looking at the smaller species of discus to populate this with.

6 fish is a good number to go with. And there are no smaller species of discus either...there are stunted discus, but no naturally smaller species for say. Most will get to the 6" range if well takin care of...some do get bigger than others (10"), but it is hard to achieve their full size potential. Just make sure you get your discus from a reputable source, and not your LFS...
