Anyone have any personal recommendations for buying Discus online? I'm getting ready to place an order from Mac's Discus.com and was wondering if anyone has any opinions. Also, do any of you guys know of any sites that have good Discus Forums? Thanks in advance.

I bought 10 babies a while ago (1-1.5'') and they were shipped overnight express or something similiar. All of them arrived well and healthy. I might recommend that you get 2-3'' though, I've read a few places that the smaller ones don't have a very good immune sytem yet.

http://simplydiscus.com is a good forum for discus.

We got our 8 Discus from "A Discus Dream" .....

They were shipped in perfect health and are doing great today after a year and a half or so...

Joe, how did you afford all those guys? Discus dream is kinda expensive, granted awesome lookin fish, but a bit too pricy for my blood. Puma and I got our 4 from one of the LFSs around here for $10 each, and they are about 3inches. Not the greatest lookin guys, but they aren't bad either. If your just starting out with them I can't see spending a fortune on them untill you know you can keep them alive. Another great place to look for them is aquabid.com Lots of different breeders put their fish up on there, for lower prices.

Joe, thanks for the site it looks promising. I think the prices are very reasonable. I'm placing an order tomorrow for the following:

2 x San Merah
1 x Solid Thai Yellow
2 x Emperor Red
1 x Hi Fin Cobalt

I'll let you guys know how they look and any other feedback I might have. These guys are all around 2.5" and its going to run me $300.00 including shipping.

There were NO healthy looking Discus in the area at that time. Yes, we did take a chance at our first try at keeping Discus. Finding Aquaria Central without doubt helped us learn as to what was required to have healthy fish, and a healthy water column...

I hope "A Discus Dream" is still providing top quality Discus. It was tough to choose online which seller was reputable.

MadCow -- I hope you chose to pick up your fish at the airport. Getting them back to your home and tank as soon as possible can only help out. I didn't want our fish to be delivered by truck/van.

Keep us informed about the Discus mad! I'm gonna be picking up two more snakeskins from the LFS next week, the first 4 puma and I got are doing great, not picky about eating, and are adjusting better than we both expected to a community style tank. My two push around the rams and the two little angel (who are temporary residents of Discus Land 40g).

Hi,
Steve @ Macs Discus has been around a long time & knows what he's doing. Many LFS's in the Seattle area buy from him. He imports from well-known, reputable, experienced breeders in S.E. Asia, and his fish are excellent. I have bought 14 from him, & would highly recommend him.
