Disease or natural?

I've got some kind of torch coral ( Euphillia? ) and noticed that one of the four heads has retracted it's polyps for the past few days. Had to wait for it all to shrink a bit so i could get a decent pic. Is it something natural or is it a disease? Found something called Brown Jelly Disease while searching on the net, could it be that?
Also noticed that since it has retracted one of the shrimp seems to spend ages picking at the brown stuff.
The other three heads seem to have grown. I'm gonna try giving it a syphon and adjust the flow of water over it a little stronger while i wait for any helpful advice.

:help: It's not looking any better, just looking worse.
All water tests checking out except for Alkalinity which came out very very low Approx 2ish. Guessing that could be the cause?

Doing another water change tomorrow. Is there anything i can do or add to keep the Alkalinity at the required level without making any fluctuations in my other levels i.e. PH?

that might not be helping. u can try a buffer...also what salt u using and do u use a buffer at all?

Using Reef Crystals. Not using any buffer because not sure which one to use. Have just got a bottle of Kent Coral-Vite because thought that might help it.

Alkalinity has never seemed to be very high though. Do i need more surface agitation or something like that?
 
I've got an air pump and wood air stone that i can use to help and i'll try pointing one of the powerheads towards the surface. Will take some water to LFS tomorrow to get it tested and try find those buffers.

good luck man! also u shoudl really get ur own test kits...lol
also just waiting on the biology department to all look at it to comedown with a conclusion..it has been submitted and i gave them a link to ur post.
