I have an idea for a DIY divider, and was wondering if there are problems with the idea, if there is a better/easier way, or what. I don't expect that it's a unique idea.

I already have some green PVC coated wire mesh. Would the wire or the coating be bad for the fish or equipment? Was thinking I would cut a piece the width of the tank, fold over all the edges that are going to be right up near the glass. Then leave enough mesh so that there's an inch to fold over on the top and bottom to help support it in place. At the bottom, a rock would help hold it in place.

Obviously I wouldn't use it for fish that can fit through, or fish that were really determined to knock it down...

A.The cut ends will rust as pointed out above
B.its probably cheaper to buy a manufactured divider
C. Still wanna do DIY use egg crate from DYI store lightung dept

Ok. I think the dividers for small tanks are like $15 though, so I figured it could be $25 for a big tank. I might want 2+ dividers/sections.

With plexi/sili, it can be removed in the future right? Taking a razor to the silicone carefully? I am considering plexi for at least one tank divider, since I already have a piece here that I can cut down to size, and it would probably look nice enough.

Of course I really really don't want to have to empty my tank (if putting it in the big tank). Maybe just a little bit of silicone at the tops, and then rocks at the bottom to hold it in place.
