I got a bit of a brown algae problem that i'm currently trying to get in check. I got some cherry shrimp yesterday and was wondering if they will eat the algae. I have amano shrimp that i know are eating the algae.

They are omnivores, they will graze on the algae but I don't know if I would call them algae eaters like I would a nerite snail or amano shrimp.

Don't get shrimp, if you expect them to get rid of the algae in your tank. Shrimp don't eat much. However, as others have stated, shrimp will eat algae. Different species will eat different types though. Larger shrimp will go after the beard and hair types that smaller shrimp can't eat.
