I have two pumps in my 55g not sure of the brand. I got them from Lowes, they are made for outdoor ponds. The rate on them is 500 GPH. I have one as a return from my sump and one inside my tank to a diy spray bar across the bottom.
 
Did you verify that these pumps would be safe for use in SW? All the ones I've seen at Home Depot/Lowe's are not--either use copper fittings, or other corrodable materials.
 
no i didnt check that but they dont have copper fittings they are all plastic. However i did use copper valves on my protien skimmer. CRAP :rant2:
 
hmmm I use a Lowe's fountain pump to circulate the water in my water change tub. I haven't had any problems and I haven't seen any metal on the pump.....just plastic. interesting
 
Stocks vary by location and time--the last time I looked for pumps was a few years back, so maybe that's changed. It's always worth checking, as long as the product is verified as safe for use.
