Do I have more room?

Hello again.

I have a 55 gallon tank (walmart special) and am wondering if I have room for more fish. The tank has is lightly to moderately planted (not sure if it matters).

Here's what I got:

5 Otos
3 Panda Corys
2 Dwarf Neon Gouramis (both male)
5 Dwarf Praecox Rainbows (two male and three female)
2 German Gold Rams (male and female)
2 German Blue Rams (male and female)
1 Dojo Loach

Am I at my tank's max capacity? If I can add more fish, what is recommended based on my tank's current population?

I think you are well-stocked in the middle layer, however if you do add more fish you should look at beefing up the rainbowfish school. Minimum for a school is six, but they do far better with more than that.

Also the cories could always use more friends.

Thanks for the response. So I should add another female rainbow, and as for the corys, what size school's do the panda's like? I was also wondering if my 1-1 ratio with my rams is healthy. Not to mention the question you posted about lonely dojos. Was also curious how a SAE would do in my setup.

They might not pair off the way you want (gold to gold and blue to blue). I actually didn't know I had a gold ram until he paired off with on of my blue's. I just put a post in the cichlid forum about this and have been reassured that this won't generate a hybrid and is ok to do. One ot one ratio is good though, thats what I have. I might downsize to just one breeding pair in time but want to see how things work out first.

I agree with Roan - add some more corys and rainbows. If you do this slowly you could add quite a few of the corys, but probably only 2 or so rainbows as the middle layer is well stocked.

If you have good filtration, I'd focus on the corys. You could have a pretty big school, but you should do it soon because, like other schooling fish, the fish might not accept the new ones. I'd add around 5.
