Do I have room for a cichlid? What kind?

I have a 29 gallon tank that's been running over a year. In that tank I have an albino bn pleco, four guppies, a pair of platies, and four koi swordtails (one male/three female). Also a few amano shrimp (which I might have to move to another existing tank) and a few apple snails. I was wondering what else I could safely add; I really like the look of cichlids. I have heard pairs can get agressive, though. Is it possible to add just one of a particular kind, like a GBR, or Bolivian Ram? Or is a pair okay? Or will cichlids in that tank not work at all?

My paramaters are:

temp 79
0 ammonia
7.2 PH
0 nitrites
5.0 nitrates
(not sure about water hardness)

I have plastic plants, driftwood, java moss and fern, and anubias in that tank. Thanks!

Thanks for responding. Does the sex of the pair matter?

The tank is definitely large enough for a pair of rams or a trio of apistos. I breed my rams and GBR's in 10g tanks. One pair in a 10g by themselves is perfectly fine and breeders have done this for years and years.

Rams and GBR will go after any other fish they deem to be in their territory when breeding or have young. Don't mistake their community nature, when breeding it goes out the window. I had to keep mine with angelfish and had to remove all other small fish.
