Hey all. I have a 55 gallon tank with the curren residents being 3 rainbow sharks 1-1.5 inches each, 2 albino rainbow sharks at about 2 inches each, 1 reticulated cory at 1 inch, 1 albino cory at 1.5 inches, 2 irridescent sharks at about 2.5 to 3 inches each, and 1 Texas Cichlid at about 1.5 to 2 inches. They are all happy fish, and have lots of personality so far (especially Tex). The Irrys are spazoids and flip out sometimes but i was told it was just the type of fish they are, but i was wonder if i could fit maybe two more fish about the size of the ones already in there.......??????? Was thinking about a rope fish or needle fish but was thinking Jurapari Cichlid and Blood Parrot Cichlid. Any suggestions???

Umm.. All those fish get quite big. When they grow up you will be way overstocked. Somebody tell me if I'm being stupid.

I am sure the irridescent sharks will get much too large for a 55g. I have 2 of them myself in my 55g and I am going to be trading them at LFS in a couple of weeks so I dont cause them any problems by keeping them in a tank that is too small for them. I dont know about the others though.

I thought that rainbow sharks (and redtail) get aggressive to eachother when they get older. I thought the rule was to have one or a bunch in a LARGE tank???
Correct me if I'm wrong.

no naps, you're right... You will definately end up with problems with 5 of those guys. I had 2 in a 55g before I knew any better and one jumped to his death, I'm assuming from being harrassed, although I never actually saw it. You are definately going to need to return some fish or convert your living room into a tank for the fish you have :duh: :)

The Irrys are going to be moved to an outside pond eventually (I live in south florida, cant put them in now cuz i gotta two 12 in albino channel cat, and an 8 in speckled perch, they would be gobbled up prob befor they hit the water-albino cats eat anything and everything they can fit in there mouth.) They are just in there for the time being. I have 5 rainbows (redtails don't have the red dorsal fin) altogether and they are getting a little fresh. Do you think i should move some of them to my other tanks?

I had a rainbow once, he always got harrassed by my red tailed shark, so I got rid of the shark....well, then my rainbow shark decided to start picking on my flying fox...so back to LFS he went. He was prob 5 or 6 inches long. I wont get another one. I would move them if I were you.

Not too sure?? It depends on the tank sizes. I know that it is really hard to keep more than one together in smaller tanks, and that goes for redtail sharks too ( i know the difference, but the aggression is the same in both types of fish)
So if you have five 20g tanks(or bigger) around, that would work. ;)

"redtails don't have red dorsals fins" was suppose to be a question sorry to confuse. I don't like the ?? button cuz i have huge hands and can't get pinky over that wayLOL. Well i have a 29 and will be getting another 55 gallon or bigger. (I hate to spend money, except on pretty fish). But i think i am just going to play it by ear. I do know that i am going to have to do some moving cuz they all get big.

I tihnk you will be okay friend o fish. I have 3 rainbow sharks and one albino rainbow shark. One of the rainbow outsizes the others, and is just a slight bigger than the albino. They are around 2 and 1.5'' they are in there with 2 albino claw frogs (1-1.5''), 1 african clawed frog(1'')A violet goby (5 inches and will prolly die since they are brackish after a bit) and a pleco On top im getting a rope fish tommrow. They are fine together. they seem to enjoy themselves. The sharks play all the time. The albino stay to itself during the day but at night it rams heads constantly with the biggest rainbow shark. During the day the rainbow swim in their little pack of 3. The frogs dont seem to interfere with them....yet. They are all happy and they are in a 38 gallon tank With 2 aqua clear filters on top and a mini jet for a current. ON aquaclear is for like a 40 to 70 and the other is for like a 20 to 40. I have no plants...yet, Lots of little caves though they enjoy it, Your fish will be fine for awhile. I would not sweat it. These people on here talk about fish for like the perfect ideal enviroment, you will be fine.
