so, do they ever get annoyed at you informing people? I was telling a guy how bad goldfish are for his oscar, and one of the less caring guys at petco got a litte annoyed about me doing that.

I always go to the LFS in the morning in the middle of the week, so usually I am the only one there and I don't have to listen to people's BS.

itches fit::I hardly ever use the " I know more than you" approach. I inform them of what I know, and I ask them for their opinion.
Unfortunately, most of them think they know it all, so whatever you tell them will make them feel threatened. I just hope that they take the advice given to them, research it, and use it towards their customers.
Some are very hard headed though, can't handle a little cunstructive criticism, and go on the defense, using the line I'm sure we've all heard a million times; "yeah, well I've been running my tank for years with no problems"...

A lot of these ignorant people end up getting out of the hobby because they think it's too hard and expensive. I don't feel bad about them loosing all that money but I do feel bad about the fish.Squawkbert said:Next day

I can't tell you how many times I've heard "I used to have fish but they all died."
Well really it is their place of business, and i would want to respect that by keeping my opinions to myself and not just go around pointing out everything that is wrong
But if anyone has a question that i could answer and cannot find help i would answer it for them, or if someone was going to get ripped off REALLY bad then i would step in.
But i go to big als so i NEVER have that problem!

If I here the LFS guy give bad advice then here people debateing weather to get it I will often just let them know politely that the LFS guy was wrong and quickly tell them the truth. I don't want people thinking I am arrogent.
