Do Malaysian Trumpet Snails always burrow in the day?

Stopped by a LFS that had snails that looked like MTS but they were all over the tank. The had several tanks with them, but of course, no one knew what they were. "They just come in on the plants" and "all snails are egg layers" were the responses. Sounds like I could get some for free but I'm not sure they are MTS.

No, they do not all burrow during the day. In general they come up at night, esp when there are snail-eaters in the tank. If they are not threatened, they may be seen at all hours.

If they are ice cream cone shaped, that's them.

And they are live bearing, no eggs. If there is a clear dab of jelly on a plant, that will likely be pond snails.
