I just realized that it looks like its bristles have grown :dance2: !!! They look like they are starting to branch out and come in more along the sides of his head!! Am I crazy, or I just hadn't noticed before?!?! Either way, hes grown a bit and is even cuter than when I first got him!!!

Yup as males grow they will get more bristle growth and they will branch out.

Heres mine, when I got him there were no bristles along his snout(only round his mouth).

You're not seeing things, they do grow :)
My Ancistrus claro had very small bristles near his mouth when I bought him, he's 3" or so now and has a head full of bristles. He's also grown more protective of his hiding spots and downright grumpy when anyone tries to steal a bite of his zuchinni slice :D

Glad I'm not losing it :joe: !!! I just got a really good look at him in the light today, and they looked much longer, and like they were splitting into different pieces, like a tree branch would. I've had him less than 4 months, so I was just suprised to notice the growth. How long do those bristles get on the full grown (or close) fish?

Some get a big head full of bristles some just get the 5 o'clock shadow bristles. :D

The bristle development also varies by gender, making it even tougher! I have 3 males with enormous bristles--some almost an inch in length, while the girls have the barest fringe along the front only.
