Do White Calico Platies lay eggs?

I have one White Calico Platy which seems to have mated with my male Red Wag Platy and I put it in a 2 way breeder since it seems like the babies will be coming soon. Within hours of putting it in the breeder there were about 15 round clear egg looking things at the bottom of the breeder. I'm confused because I thought they were live bearers. Can anyone share some advice?

Platies are livebearers, which mean they give birth to live babies. What seemed to happen in your case(it's happened to me too) for some reason the eggs do not develop all the way and they stay as eggs instead of growing into little fry in her belly.

Now, sometimes it will go away with the age of the fish, like the older the fish is, the more live eggs it will produce, the younger, the fewer. I've also seen some females that are just really bad breeders. They lay few eggs, have deformed young, and just like I said, are not good breeders at all.

Hope I helped some
