I know that I should but I don't. I don't buy fish often, since my tank is pretty full. I do run a UV sterilizer and I change the bulb once a year that has help with a lot of things. The last time I bought fish, it was dwarf puffers that I seeded with water from my large tank and they where the only fish in that tank.

I agree that no matter how great a LFS is there can always be a problem. I try my hardest when I sell a fish to someone that I sell them a healthy fish but we don't QT our fish, I wish we could. People always ask me when we get in new fish and I tell them but I also tell them that I would wait at least a couple of days to buy them because the first 24-48 hours are the hardest. Also unless you actually work there the customer doesn't realize what goes on. We pull any dead fish from the tanks before the store opens and if any dies though out the day it is also pulled. If there is a physical disease that is able to be seen, we will put "under observation" sign on it.

I will trust mg's water :)

I only buy from a very reputable seller and they never sell any sick fish so to answer your question no i don't
Fishy_Fun, you're in the Portland, Or area right? I'm in vancouver and was wondering who you buy from if it is an lfs. I buy all my fish from The Wet Spot and they are great, but wondering if there is anywhere else I should check out.

Those who have been burned ... QT - note the stories.
Those who have YET to be burned don't.

Seems like most us of have to learn the hardway :)

I QT for a min of 4 weeks - but lately the fish have been keeping the tank - and I have to get a new QT - a symptom of MTS I think

I was browsing the entries in this thread, and hey, msjinkzd, if you see this, just outta curiosity what was the parasite that showed up after 3 weeks and 6 days?
(As for me on this topic, yes, I learned the hard way and yes, now I QT.)
