Do you add anything to your tank when you....

I use a python for water changes. I add the dechlorinator straight to the tank, then add water from the tap.
The only other thing I add to the water is fertilizer for the plants.

i use declorinater

I dont put anything in my water. I do the same as Raskolnikov and I usually leave the water about 4 days to a week.

I don't put anything in the water, since the water out of the tap is pretty clean to begin with.
One of the joys of living in Hawaii. :)

This brings up an interesting question which I have been pondering about for a while.
I got Malawi cichlids, which all experts agree that they should be in high pH water.
I really don't want to start putting stuff (even crushed coral) just for the sole purpose of getting the pH high.
The fish have been aclimated by the LFS for a while to the local water conditions, and I've verified that they do not do anything to the water out of the tap.
If the fish are fine from the LFS, no sense adjusting the pH???
The water out of the tap is already 7.6, so it's close to the 8.0 - 8.2 that's recommended for these fish.
The fish seem to be doing fine with no adjustment to the pH for several months now.

Right now I add, Amquel, something to adjust the Kh, a few different fertilizers(3 0r 4), and some excel. I mix it all in buckets and then siphon it into the tank. Most of the refuse water goes out into the plants in the yard. The extra goes to the house plants.

The two smaller tanks just get Amquel, excel and generic nutrients.

Prime is the only thing I treat my new water with.

Yes, dechlor.

I also add epsoms salt and baking soda to my Tang tanks because my water is neutral and soft.
