Do you ever feel sorry for your fish?

Most fish we keep in our aquariums are bred for exactly this purpose. If this hobby doesn't exist, neither would these fish.

Like other said, being a responsible fish-keeper, I feel my fish are happier in my tank than anywhere else.

Like, when they swim up against the sides and look out. Do you ever feel sorry for your fish begin in a glass cage? Just wondering.

I don't feel sorry for my fish. But I do feel sorry for the goldfish at the lfs, all crammed into a bare tank with no room to move around. I keep my tank(s) heavily planted, 40% water change 2x/week. They get a varied diet and never have to worry about some toxic oil spill or predators or deforestation with runoff or other hazards that exist in the wild. I am sure they would enjoy the wild, but they do seem to enjoy the jungle in which they live now.

I too keep fairly small fish, and try to make sure I keep only compatible species and don't overstock my tanks (though the platies are conspiring against me ;)). I don't feel sorry for my fish, or those belonging to most folks here on AC. I do get upset when I see fish kept in small, dirty tanks; I think people should give the same consideration to owning a fish as they would to keeping a dog, cat or other pet.

i dont feel sorry for my fish, theyve got a better life than at the petstore. to me, that would amount to feeling sorry for my dog because he lives in the backyard instead of being a stray or having to defend himself in the forest.

My fish--as I'm sure all of yours do, too--have their owner meticulously worrying about their water quality, diet, etc. Compared to the raw difficulties of their natural environments, these fish are like royalty.
