i want to run a co2 reactor but dont wanna hurt my 10 neons, 10 cardinals, guppy fry, and cories.
will it be ok?
You need to know what your KH is before you add CO2.

How many watts of light do you have?

the problem with CO2 is that it drops your PH down and an overdose of CO2 will kill the fish. If your going to CO2 and do it cheaply, go with the DIY plans under the plant section, it's a sticky and works pretty good.

RTR, not to argue or fight with you by no means, but i've heard of PH shock, this is not the case? i mean if it drops or raises too quickly that can't hurt a fish at all? and how does Total Dissolved Solids come in to play?

I have read the PH article many moons ago, but still have to wonder if PH isn't important, why test for it. Is this the same in SW tanks?

ya i have the same point of view as puffer. youre probably going to say its not the pH, its the KH or GH but isnt Gh and kh the stuff taht creats pH??

If the KH is fairly high, it'll take a LOT of CO2 to cause any serious changes in PH.

Every rapid change makes a shock. Do it gradualy and there is no shock. Start from your selfs, go into a room thats -20 C on a summer day and you will shock, but in the winter its a normal temperature. Ofcourse this doesn't have anything with ph its just a analogy.
