Does anyone know the breeding habit of Hap Venustus?

According to my sources, they are the same, but the Haplochromis name given to it is now a junior synonym.

now, looking at the pic of the male, I wonder if that is the fish I have. Everything looks the same cept the yellow. When he starts to change his color, it's almost all blue. He doesn't keep any yellow when he is chasing the female around.

Also, the first female that has been in the tank with him since I bought them, he nearly killed. I had to remove her and have her healing (hopefully). there is another female in the tank, bigger than the first. She seems to be okay, but, he is on her constantly.

There could possibly be a myriad of geographic color variances, or you could easily have been given a misidentified fish...

The venustus I once had had a beautiful blue coloring on it's head and well defined giraffe spots. However, he didn't show any signs of the yellow stripe down his dorsal and he was about 6" long. It's probably just a color variance.
