I just ordered a big bottle of Prime from Big Als. Went to use it this morning for the first time. It doesn't smell the same as Prime usually smells. It still stinks, but it doesn't stink in the same way... and it's also got some small black particles floating in it.

Just wondering if it's still "doing the job"?

Thanks!
Amy

Wow, talk about your coincidences!

I attended a meeting of the Rocky Mountain Cichlid Assoc tonight and wouldn't you know it.... the guest speaker was a sales rep from Seachem! I got to ask my question to THE man who'd really know!

Nope. Prime never goes bad, and the black particles floating in my bottle are the result of certain chemicals in the mixture bonding together... they actually dissipate when it's added to the tank.

Just thought I'd share!

:)

I agree. It's good to know that Prime never goes bad. I bought a store's inventory of Prime when they went out of business 7 or 8 years ago. I still have some bottles under their old purple labels. It was more potent back then as the dosage was 1 drop per gallon versus 2 drops nowadays. That's probably why the old Prime stinks so much more.

He did say that, Rom! The longer you have it, the more it will stink, but it never goes bad!

Now I'm going to order that gallon jug of it!

:D

Actually, no... he gave some interesting info about exactly how much Prime it took to be toxic to fish. He said in the test they did, they filled a 10 gallon tank with 8 gallons of Prime and 2 gallons of water... THEN it was toxic.

:D

I don't think you overdosed THAT much did you? ;)
