Does what the fish eat affect the color of poo?

While observing my rainbow shark last night I noticed that his poo was a very light colour, not white though.

He's been eating Wardleys Shrimp Pellets which are a very light brownish colour.. would this affect the colour of the poo?

when i feed some of my fish assorted flakes (which have a difference in color; red, yellow, green, orange) sometimes i notice pooh which is tinted towards those colors.
when i had a few guppies in quarantine a few weeks ago, one had massive stringy pooh hanging out of it, some of the pooh being dull red, then quickly down the pooh line a sudden change into brown, then yellow, ect.
...incoincidentally that one died the next morning...
if your fish is swimming, eating, pooping in a normal fashion, and has no visible disease or damage or bloat or anything, I'd say hes fine.

I had suspected parasites, as one of my platys in the other tank had light coloured poo too, but then he'd been eating the same pellets as the shark.

All fish are swimming, eating and pooping normally. I did however see the shark flash on the gravel a couple of times.

i noticed back when i had my oscar that the poo would very with what they ate
i read somewhere that there is still alot of nutrition left even after the fish has pass the food

my guess is that the more you over feed the more nutrition that is left

if the shark is flashing on gravel that would suggest a possibility of external parasites, which would have nothing to do with internal parasites (stupid question on my behalf)
I also heard they have a lot of nutrition left over after eating food, and with their stomachs the size of their eyeball it's pretty easy to overfeed.
I would assume your shark is fine if hes acting normally

Well, on a side note. Once I went swimming in the Dead Sea in Israel.

Awfully salty stuff. Feels like acid on your tongue.

Well I decided to...well...release some excess gasses I had. Thought nothing of it.

Until I did it. My eyes grew as big as saucers. Felt like someone got ahold of a red hot poker and stuck me where the sun don't shine.

And I SWEAR that my poop was a different color every night for at least a week.

Started off with purple if I remember correctly. So maybe the chemical composition of the water affects the fishy poo?

Maybe we can use it with a color chart to test tank parameters, eh? :D

Yes!
My betta eats Tetra BettaMin and poops red. :P
