Does your spouse or partner support your hobby?

My wife was very indifferent in the beginning. She didn't have anything against the idea of fish tanks, but she wasn't necessarily all for them. Now, 6 months later I have her reading Aquaria Central and trying to help with the maintenance. Now shes as in to it as I am and we have 4 tanks running and are discussing getting a fifth tank from a friend of ours.

My bf got me a betta in a small bowl from a crackhead place and it died in two days. So then I had to go out and buy 2 more and put them in a betta bowl with a divider. Then I felt bad so I got them a 2.5g w/ a divider and 3 ADF's. Then one of their fins got torn so I moved him and got a 10g for him (which he loves!) Along with the ADF's. Now I feel bad for the betta in the 2.5g, so I want to get him the Eclipse System 6. w/ a couple ADF's.... He's right now saying no, and theat he wishes he didn't buy me that first fish, about upgrading the 2.5g. But he keeps saying "No more tanks...". Technically I don't want to ADD another one, I just want to upgrade...hehe.

And same thing as superjohnny, 1st it was Lord of the Rings, then Tori Amos, then KungFu and now FISH!!! Hey what can I say, I love it all!!!

My wife supports me pretty well, after all she was the one that bugged me about getting a "fish tank" a few years back which is what got me into the hobby which she's since given up on. We're just in a 1 bedroom apartment right now so she's put her foot down about more/bigger tanks. Sadly that meant passing up a 130g with stand for $150 (CAD), of course, much like superjohnny, then it would need filters, heaters, lights, substrate, plants, plants, fish, more plants, a few more fish, some more plants...

But I've slowly acclimatized her to the notion of a 100+ gallon tank and I'm pretty sure she'll let me get it once we have a house. She really enjoys the 33g tank that we have now, especially since I've started adding more reds (didn't spend all that money on lights for nothing, after all!) and opened up the aquascape. She loves watching the cories swim laps and the betta pretend that he's a cory and getting himself wedged in under plants and stuff trying to follow them about. I'm pretty sure that she likes not doing any of the maintenance too. ;)

Many moons ago when we were dating I only had a dozen tanks (mainly Cichlids) so she knew exactly what she was getting into. I would not say she is enthusiatic, but she has no objections so long as the tanks in the living areas of the house look clean. She has made a point however of never under any circumstances participating. :) That is fine by me. The tanks are my toys and I suspect that I would not share well.

The fish are one of my many hobbies, all of which are pretty much ignored by the rest of the family. I spend a lot more (outrageous) amount of money on floaty pens. I wanted a bigger tank for years but I’m the one who restrained myself until recently. I still don’t have all the bits and pieces, but I’ll get there. The only part of it my husband doesn’t like is that when I switch over the tanks, he’s going to have to finish that wall behind it!

My husband maintains the SW, I maintain the FW and do general research for all the tanks. I think in my case, it would be more accurate to say that I support his hobby--we both started with FW, and he moved to salt with my help.

My wife supports be dont the fish thing. But she will not help with the tank, i dont ask her anyway. It's a "your hobby" issue. Also doesnt want me to go overboard with the spending on it. She does admit that I do a good job with it and that it does look nice.

my girlfriend says that this is the wierdest hobby ive gotten into, but whenever im online looking at fish, shes always saying, OOOOOH, ITS SOOOOO CUTE! CAN YOU GET ONE!?

when i get my new tank set up, im pretty sure shell fall in love
