Does your spouse or partner support your hobby?

My wife is allowing me to get a bigger tank when I save the money for it. She is even helping me aquire the funds for it (well, sort of, I am allowed to divert part of our tax return this year and hopefully next year as well.) She loves the planted 29 gallon and I catch her watching it, and one evening, out of the blue, she told me she was proud of how much study and research i had put into it and that she admired it, that it had all paid off.

Wife supports it. She likes the fish although not as much as I do. She likes her 3 cats and a mini lop rabbit. I also buy colorful fish that she likes. I do not keep the fish tank in the basement however I've got it in my office.

Maybe you can buy your wife something as expensive as the 55 gallon you want to setup? ;) instead of letting her think it's your tank, have her think of it as both of YOUR tank, maybe she'll help you aquascape what not....

If she still doesn't let you have it, keep begging....
Hehehe,.
My girl is soo suportive, she is absolutely the best and I wish everyone had a SO just like her.
She wants to build me a 320 gallon tank.. lol. I am a member of a club here in the MN and I drag her to the meetings. Well last year we went to a house that had a 320 in the basement and she was just floored, it was a reef tank setup and she said, she will personally build one for me. lol
But we will have to move into a house for that.. But i am waiting for that day. She wants me to rework my current reef tank and she loves my hets and endler tanks. She says the fish tanks is my thing but she is also very supportive of me and my hobby. Wait till this summer when she is living with me and watching me doing the outdoor containers trying to breed livebearers and I am gonna try white clouds as well. :D

When we first got together, my partner was indifferent to my tanks. She knew I had several of them and didn't object to it, but didn't have much interest in them either.

Now, after a year, she has been planning her own tanks and really enjoys the hobby much more than she ever thought she would. Especially the planted tanks :)

Valentine's gift was $600. I guess I'll keep begging ...

:bowing:

My g/f is very supportive, in fact she's the sole reason I got into the hobby 3 years ago. I quickly turned her 2 tanks into 8! :dance
Rest assured when I have more space it's going to get wildly out of control...

Well, I've had tanks on my own a few years back, but my BF and I started it up together a couple years ago, and its been going great since.
We both love it the same... he's more into the technical stuff like CO2, the sump, plumbing, all that jazz.. and I'm into the fish and plants... and of course, bettas :p

Girlfriend, soon to be wife, was supportive to a point. When my eyes would flicker over to the tank across the room while she was telling me something it started to cheese her off a little, but that was my fault. Of course out of all the initial fish in my tank the $0.23 fancy tail guppy that helped cycle the tank was her favorite. Go figure. The dwarf cichlids are slowly gaining here approval and interest though. The current dictate is no new tanks until we get a bigger place. So I thought: "she said no new tanks right?" (anybody want to buy a slightly used boa constrictor?)

boyfriend got me into fishkeeping, but i guess he didnt realize he would create a "monster" as he says it himself. we live in different states and he has a tropical tank himself at his house, but he's not really into caring, looking for information, etc. when i got my first 10g tank, he saw it and when he went back to NY, i called him and he said he couldnt talk to me at that moment because he was cleaning his tank. he said he felt guilty after seeing mine. :)
anyways, i've been trying to convince him to give me a 55g tank. i dont have much room in my house, so basically that's the reason he's been against it.

Absolulely! My husband is probably more of a fanatic than I am. He builds all the tanks & does all the maintenance. I am in more of a "supervisory" role....
We both decide on the fish and both love them like our children. ;)
