(I've posted this in general freshwater, but no answer so far ...)
Long time no see Aquaria Central (it's been awhile since I've posted here)
Well, I've had this cichlid tank for almost 2 years now and have not made any significant changes since then.
Tank : 33 gal with rocks (to hide) and some articifial plants.
Population :
- 2 Neo. Brichards (2" each)
- 1 Red Tail (Hap I think) (almost 6")
- 1 Gephyrochromis acei (6")
- 1 Labidochromis caeruleus (4")
- 1 Pretty static Synodontis (looks like an eputerus) (6")
And finally a Dogtooth Cichlid (4 1/2 ") (Cynotilapia afra), well it looks like that.
It's either that or a ps. zebra, but it's dorsal fin is kinda blackish so I guess it's a dogtooth
(the vendor did not know exacty when I bought it)
Well, it's been a pretty active tank from the beginning, lots of rock-moving and some mouth wrestling from time to time. The fish tolerated it and territories were formed and changed from time to time ... until like two weeks ago aggressivity increased and even my caeruleus started to mouth-wrestle.
I don't know if there's any link between my problem and the sudden rise in aggression but now my dogtooth seems to be almost sitting on his tail fin. Only his pectoral fins seem to be working actively, he only uses his tail fin when needed (like when food's around). But even tough, he's like a brick and falls down on the bottom, bottom-first.
What could have caused this ? does is seem to you like an injury ? or a disease ? Well apart from his "paralysis" the fish looks healty.
Thanks for any input.
