So I had a mild case of ich... and asked you all for sugestions and I thank you all!

i am all done and ich free. Salt was the method you all steered me in .... but i ended up going with using "aquari-sol".... no fish died ... all are happy and healthy ... i don't think i had a sever case of ich as only 5 of my fish had just a few spots on there fins.....u know -- started with one fish -- then another.. then another.... so i got it before it went nuts in my tank.... mostly thanks to you all making me jump on it right away

sorry -- thats not what my question is about.....

I want to make sure the medicine i used "aquari-sol" is completly gone before i add the snails back in the tank..... I used the medicine for 12 days....

i havnt used the medicine in 2 days .... and yesterday I put carbon in the filter... and did a 50% water change yesterday and today.....

now this medicine i used is suppose to be very mild ... its ionic and I was told it actually evaporates out of the tank. It can be used as an ich preventative ( 12 drops per 10 gallons weekely) or an ich cure at 12 drops per gallon every day and for 3 days after the last spot is gone) the active ingredient is saluable copper salt...... which actually confuses me on how it can evaporate out of the tank if there is salt in it ....(shrugs)

so how long should i leave the carbon in my filter and how many more water changes before i can add the snails back ?

copper...? say good bye to having inverts....

a snail, shrimp, etc is an invert

so is that any fish with a shell?

and are you saying my snail can't go back in my tank with out dying ?

Copper is deadly to invertebrates (like snails, shrimp, crayfish, clams, etc). It can be held in the silicon of the tank. It may leech out for an indeterminate amount of time. Its likely if you put your inverts back in the tank, they will not fair well.

bummer... I like, the 2 snails i have... would have used something else if I would have known.....

Gives you the perfect excuse to set up a 10-20g invert only tank!

LOL yeah i guess it does... and to think just today I turned down a 80 gal six sided upright tank and stand for 25 bucks .......
