What do you guys use to dose your reefs (soft coral reefs, lps reefs and sps reefs) i have been trying dts plankton. but was woundering if you guys use anything and have good healthy corals.

thanks

when i was doing corals i was using reef solution(from the makers of miracle mud) and aragamilk. i had softies LPS monti cap and hippopus clams.

i fed dts phyto and oyster eggs, cyclopeeze, mysis, krill, squid, and silverside.

i have been using cyclopse-eez because of the size. It is jsut frozen copepods but very nutritious. The thing about phyto plankton, is that it is too small for most corals. SPS, and lps, and many softies cannot digest it. i do not does it because the only thing that i have in my tank that can inject it is my crocea clam, but it is too big to need to be fed all the time, and he gets a good amount of natural stuff.
DTs oyster eggs is also a great product so i hear. but i havent tried it because it is pretty expensive.

I use Kent reef calcium and iodine, concentrated, after measuring of course. I have a bubble that I only intentionally dosed twice in 6 months! My tank gets a decent amount of diatom buildup on the acrylic. I scrape it off once or twice a week and the fish go nuts! I am assuming that the scraping also benefits the bubble coral, but I have no evidence of that other than the fact that I never dose it with marine snow or anything like that, just the straight trace elements.

I have always wondered about that myself, if dosing any type of coral is truly beneficial.

I use Kent Marine's Expert Series Phyto-Max, Chroma-Max, and Zoo-Max. All my corals respond well and grow like crazy! I have the following:

29 Gallon FOWLR:

Blue Neon Velvet Damsel (Neoglyphidodon oxyodon)
Domino Damsel (Dascyllus trimaculatus)

65 Gallon Reef:

FISH:

Yellow Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens)
Pacific Blue (Hippo) Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus)
Spine-cheek (Maroon)Clown Anemonefish (Premnas biaculeatus)
Ocellaris Clown Anemonefish (Amphiprion ocellaris)
Yellow-Tail Damsel (Chromis xanthurus)
Lawnmower Blenny (Salarius fasciatus)

Invertabrates:

Tube Anemone (Cerianthus sp.)
Banded Coral Shrimp (Stenopus hispidus)
16 Blue Legged Hermit Crabs (Clibanarius tricolor)
5 Scarlet Reef Hermit Crabs (Paguristes cadenati)

Corals:

Bubble Coral (Plerogyra sinuosa)
Pearl Bubble Coral (Physogyra lichtensteini)
Cauliflower Colt Coral (Cladiella sp.)
Zoanthid Button Polyps Corals (Zoanthus sp.)(Cats Eye)
Ricordea Flower Mushroom Corals (Ricordea florida)
Green Striped Mushroom Corals (Actinodiscus sp.)

I feed them phytoplex, zooplex, and occasionaly baby brine shrimp.I also use iodine, essential elements, strontium, and liquid calcium from Kent Marine.I have big heathy star polyps, green mushroom (it is so healthy thatit resently budded),green lace gorgonia.

I dose my tank with marine snow, coral vibrance, and I use the oceans blend part one and two, along with purple up. And sometimes I use frozen brine shirmp for the fish as well as the corals. I have deffiently seen a big difference in coral activity and reproduction.
