The day after Christmas I went out and did a shopping spree. I needed to buy another male rat for my guy and another female rat for my girl. I have a hard time finding females around where I live, but I found this guy! He was labeled as a hairless rat, but after doing some research I found out he's actually a double rex (because of his weird coat lengths at weird places and because of his long curly whiskers).
When I asked the guy about them, he told me that there was another petstore in PA that was breeding these hairless and they had too many and they were living in horrible conditions, so they took their only female (that they were breeding with) and a couple of their males (kept them separate of course) and had them at this petstore. The female wasn't there when I was buying mine, but this cute guy was. All of them were double rexes except one that was actually a hairless dumbo rat who was missing an eye. I would have gotten the one eyed rat, but he wasn't healthy so he wasn't for sale. They kept him separate from the others while they were treating him, but he was so cute.
Anyway, here's his pictures. He's still a little skittish, and he's being quarantined for a couple weeks before I introduce him to my male rat. Any ideas on some names? I can't think of anything I like enough. There is also like one drop of water on his butt, that's from him sleeping under his water bottle.
