I have one oto left in my 10 gallon tank and I'm wondering if I should leave him in there all by himself or move him into my other tank with Harlequins, kuhli loaches and 2 gouramis.

Any opinions? He really looks lonely :headshake2:

Does he look lonely meanign he doesn't move or does he look lonely because there's only 1 of him? If he looks lonely meaning he doesn't move, he might possibly be sick. Most otos are very sensitive, you probably know that already thought. If he's lonely because he's alone, you can put him in the other tank, maybe having Kuhlis there will bring him out more. Just a thought.

he seems lonely because he's alone. He's not sick. As for all the others I have NO idea why they died. Water parameters are fine, lots of plants, good care. I even gave them zuccini & other veggies.

How long have you had the otos? They are very delicate and often perish within the first month or so....He would really appreciate some buddies. What else is in the 10 with him? The tank mates in the other tank (what size is it?) would be fine for him altho otos really like to be in schools of their own kind.

*eidt* duh! just saw your tank size in your sig!

Also how long have your tanks been set up? they need to be in established tanks.....

I've had the oto for about a month and the tank he's in has been set up for 7 months. The 25g has been up for 3 months. Both are cycled and I've had no fish loss in the 25 g

OK I bought a beta fish to keep my last oto company. I doubt they will be the best of mates but at least my oto will know there is someone else in the tank. They also told me at the pet store that they will not be keeping anymore otos in stock, NOT because they die off so much but because of the cost! They are now 5$ each and used to be 3.99$. *Sigh*

Water quality problems? Not so far no. Only time I have a problem is when I do 50% water changes every week. All other tests come back ok.
