Driftwood growing fur?

So i got a new piece of driftwood from the pet store that has been treated ans=d is safe for fish, bla bla bla...but since putting it in the tank a week ago it seems to have grown some kind of semi-transparent fur around most of it. :uhoh: Anyone know what it is? It hasn't seemed to affect the fish at all, but it looks kinda gross. I will try taking it out of the tanks and brushing it all off before replacing it but if it grows back i may have to get rid of it, it looks that gross.

What kind of fish do you have in the tank with it? It should go away on its on. I usually find out that how well you clean it initailly determines the development of it.

I have a powder blue gourami, 3 rosbaras, 3 neoen tetras, 2 platys, 3 cherry barbs and an aquatic frog.

just scrub it off when it appears if you dont like the look of it

I had this happen with my new driftwood... boiled it again, and it's been keeping the fuzz off, although it seems like it's coming back now.

I had this happen too. Just scrub it off and give it a quick rinse on teh affected area.

i use a mid sized airline tube to suck off the gel like substance on my driftwood.
