hello all...

seem like everyone who have real plant have driftwood in them...

is this necessary?
can i use wood i find in the lake/river??

any reply is greatly thanx....

I would definately not use wood from a lake or river, it may carry lots of bacteria and other things, driftwood is ok if you have fish that will like to rest on/in it, clown loaches, pleco's, corys ect...

Manzanita?

I've got an old manzanita branch that we used to use with our birds that would look really cool as tree roots in my tank. A couple questions:
1) Is manzanita aquarium-safe - how best do I test it?
2) Will a good scrubbing with plain water clean off any remnant bird waste on it, or is wood once used with birds unsafe for an aquarium?

Thanks
